Our Milestones
Tracing the pivotal moments that have shaped Bookcliff Sales into the trusted name it is today.
1984
Foundation Year
Bookcliff Sales was started to fulfill a need in Southeastern Utah by aiming to serve the mining industry throughout the area. The business quickly grew, not only in employees, but also in the capacity to meet additional needs of the industry.
1989
Western Expansion
As the operation grew, so did the array of brands, services and supplies that were offered – with this, the company began expanding into Wyoming and Colorado. In 1989, a second brick and mortar location was opened in Rock Springs, Wyoming. Bookcliff saw a lot of growth throughout the next decade.
1990s+
Community Engagement Initiatives
The 1990s provided a steady climb for the company; however, the 2000’s saw changes in the mining industry and energy sector across the Western United States, as uncertainty grew so did Bookcliff’s roots and tenacity. Bookcliff expanded their buying capacity through a partnership with True Value/Induserve, thus allowing for more opportunities to reach new customers outside of coal mining. During this time, Bookcliff also began to operate a full-service repair shop in their Utah location, allowing them to not only sell the product, but also service the product as needed. The importance of providing “full circle” service to customers would be a strong point in staying competitive in the industry.
2012
The Workwear Division
As Bookcliff continued to grow, one of the areas of opportunity became the need for a one-stop location for PPE and quality workwear. With that in mind, in 2012, the business opened a standalone boot and clothing store – Bookcliff Workwear. Beginning small, the store quickly outgrew its first location. In 2015, a new, larger space was opened and now Bookcliff Workwear carries 18 footwear brands and 15 clothing lines as well as a multitude of accessories and fun items.
